Why Rx Open Exists

The world faces a projected shortfall of more than 10 million health workers by 2030, concentrated in the regions least able to absorb it. Scaling health professions education to meet this challenge requires more than good intentions; it requires collaborative tools and shared content.

Today, most high-quality digital learning tools are locked behind commercial licenses that put them out of reach for the institutions training the majority of the world's future health workforce. Faculty in these settings often build curricula from scratch, in isolation, without access to the tools or peer networks that could accelerate their work.

Rx Open exists to change that equation. It provides institutions with a global library of openly licensed content, collaborative authoring tools, and a growing network of educators, so that building high-quality, locally relevant health education doesn't depend on institutional wealth. And every institution that participates strengthens what's available for everyone else.

Built on a Growing Global Community

High-quality health professions education should not depend on geography or institutional resources.
Many educators work in environments with limited access to teaching materials and curriculum development tools, leading students with many needs.
Rx Open was created to support these educators by providing open educational resources and flexible tools that enable institutions to build locally relevant learning experiences for their students.
